Dublin is Ireland's largest city and the capital of Ireland. With a population of over 1.2 million, it is the fourth-largest city in the European Union. Wicklow is just south of Dublin city and together they make up part of Irelands ancient east. Wicklow is known as the garden of Ireland and the county's name derives from an Old Norse word meaning "a wild place". With continuous woodlands, mountains, glacial lakes and waterfalls, Wicklow certainly lives up to its name.
